The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has approved the set-up of VimpelCom Ltd through the merger of VimpelCom and Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar.
Ukrainian regulatory approval was necessary because the proposed merger implied the combination of Kyivstar and VimpelCom’s Ukrainian subsidiaries, URS and Golden Telecom.
The transaction is expected to complete in H1. Telenor will hold 38.84% of common shares and 35.42% of voting shares of VimpelCom Ltd, while Altimo will hold 38.46% and 43.89% respectively. The free floats will be 22.7% and 20.69% respectively.
