Private equity firm Apax Partners is said to be in talks with Californian-based video conferencing equipment manufacturer Polycom to take the company private, in a deal which could value the firm at over US$3bn.
Polycom and Apax are reported to have been in talks since November 2009, in a deal which would see the private equity firm pay US$37 per Polycom share. A deal has yet to be struck, though, and since news of the talks has been leaked, Polycom shares have seen a rise.
Polycom shares are currently trading at approximately US$30.30, a 40% rise from earlier this year.
