Burkina Faso’s telecoms regulator ARCE has renewed the mobile licence of Celtel Burkina, part of the Zain group, for a 10-year period.
The regulator is still in negotiations with Telmob as well as Telecel Faso, which saw its licence suspended earlier this week after it failed to pay the renewal fees by the May 24 deadline.
The renewed licence fee has been set at CFA26.33bn (E40.1m).
