Vodafone agreed to acquire Turkish fixed-line operator Borusan Telekom last week, the UK-based company announced.
The purchase of Borusan, which provides fixed telephony and internet services, will enhance Vodafone’s 3G services with access to Borusan’s fibre-optic network. This should enable Vodafone to offer higher speed and quality connections between its mobile base stations, having previously depended heavily on Turk Telekom’s network.
Although financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed, Vodafone said that Borusan had sales of US$70m in 2009.
