Videocon Group chairman Venugopal Dhoot has said that the firm is considering selling a 26% stake in its telecoms arm Videocon Telecommunications.
A foreign buyer is most likely, with the stake valued at around US$675m, valuing the firm at US$2.7bn.
Videocon Telecommunications operates under the Datacom brand and the group has previously attempted to sell a stake in the firm. However, despite hiring Morgan Stanley to help find a suitor, no firm was willing to meet the asking price.
Videocon Telecommunications is currently operational in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Mumbai but holds a pan-India licence.
