Singapore’s incumbent telco SingTel has acquired Australian cloud specialist Ensyst in a deal worth about A$13m (US$10.63m).
Ensyst is a key partner for Microsoft in Australia, where it leverages on the US technology giant’s cloud platforms and other collaboration products such as Lync and Office 365.
John Paitaridis, managing director of Singtel’s Australian unit Optus, said: “We see Ensyst playing a critical role in deepening and enhancing Optus Business’ Microsoft capabilities, which is critical for our business and government customers given that Microsoft is a leading provider of enterprise applications.”
Sydney-based Ensyst was established in 2001 and has around 80 employees. Its unaudited management accounts showed it had tangible assets of roughly A$208,000 (US$170,060) as of 30 September 2014.
