Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin criticised mobile operators for charging excessive roaming fees, suggesting they could be punished if prices are not reduced, Dow Jones reports.
The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) started a probe in March to evaluate whether the three major operators, MTS, VimpelCom and MegaFon, were overcharging for roaming services.
The mobile operators are allegedly charging up to 2.5 times what they charge for international calls and three to six times what the European Union permits among member states.
