The company behind the BlackBerry, Research in Motion (RIM), has acquired RSS service provider Viigo for an undisclosed amount.
Viigo is a service which lets mobile users customise an application, which then in turn provides them with the desired information on among others sports, weather, stock and flights. The company was established in 2004 in Ontario. RIM is also headquartered in Ontario.
CEO Mark Ruddock said, “Viigo is excited to announce that our company is now part of Research In Motion (RIM). Our team has joined RIM’s global organization and will continue to bring our expertise in BlackBerry application development and real-time content delivery to the BlackBerry platform. The Viigo for BlackBerry app will also continue to be available for download through BlackBerry App World.”
