Nigeria intends to limit rates mobile operators can charge for calls and text message later this year, Reuters reports.
The director of policy and competition for the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Mary Uduma, was quoted saying that the regulator was working to evaluate the appropriate cap.
There were 76 million mobile operators by the end of February in Nigeria, out of a population of 140 million.
The NCC was not immediately available for comments.
