Orange Romania has named Digeo Martinez Lopez as its new CFO. Lopez succeeds Louis Pech, who was appointed CFO of Belgian telco Mobistar in June after three years as the financial head of the Romanian operator.
Both Orange Romania and Mobistar are part of the France-based Orange group.
Lopez starts his new role this September and will continue with “efficiency enhancement” programmes, according to the company statement.
He first joined the Orange group in 2000 from Orange Spain, where he held several positions including director of financial planning and control.
Bucharest-based Orange Romania noted that Lopez has coordinated numerous strategic and efficiency programmes in his time with the group and developed business models for launching new services and technologies, such as TV and high-speed broadband networks.
Orange Romania is the Eastern European nation’s largest mobile operator by subscribers. Smaller rivals are Vodafone, Cosmote, in which Greek telco OTE has a majority stake, RCS&RDS’ Digi.Mobil and Romtelecom, owned by OTE and the Romanian government.
