A change in German law could lead to the split of Deutsche Telekom’s phone network from its retail business.
Rainer Bruederle, Germany’s economy minister, has, according to Reuters, submitted a proposal to alter laws that regulate the sector, which could eventually see a division of the incumbent operator’s assets.
The federal network agency would, however, only oversee the network split if the German telecoms sector was failing to generate sufficient competition and value.
The changes to the law could be implemented by the end of this year.
