Ghana’s environment ministry has reportedly imposed an immediate ban on the building of any new telecoms masts in the country.
According to Ghana Business News, a new committee is being set up to produce guidelines on the mounting of telecom masts.
Quoting the Environmental Protection Agency, the report says some 50% of current communications masts in the country are erected by service providers that did not have a licence to do so.
The ban comes as Millicom is selling its telecom towers to Helios Towers Ghana.
