Mexican cableco Grupo Televisa stated at the end of last week that it will partner with local rivals Telefonica and Megacable Holdings to place a joint bid in the country’s upcoming dark fibre auction.
Televisa stated that the firms would form a consortium, should their joint bid be successful.
Mexican state controlled electricity firm Comision Federal de Electrcidad (CEE) is auctioning off dark fibre leases, tendering three routes across various parts of the country, with 20 year lease licences, which should enable smaller operators to better compete with the country’s dominant telcos.
