Shares in US based Ciena Corp jumped earlier this week following speculation and rumours that Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) is mulling an acquisition of the network systems maker.
The reports are yet to be confirmed, though, and some say it is merely speculation.
Ciena and NSN made rival bids in late 2009 for bankrupt equipment maker Nortel Networks’ Metro Ethernet business (MEN), a bidding war which was finally won by Ciena.
NSN is a JV between Finnish vendor Nokia and German firm Siemens.
