Luigi Gubitosi, a former CEO of Italian mobile operator Wind Telecomunicazioni, has joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch to head its corporate and investment banking unit in Italy.
Gubitosi, who became head of Wind in 2005 but left last April, will also take on the role of country executive for Italy, the bank confirmed.
BofA Merrill Lynch also announced the promotions of Enrico Chiapparoli and Diego Selva as co-heads of investment banking for Italy, reporting to Gubitosi.
As Italy struggles to restructure its colossal debts, banks are likely to generate substantial business through their advisory work in the country.
