3G auction gaining traction

Indian Telecoms Minister Andimuthu Raja has said that revenue from the ongoing 3G auction process could glean over Rs500bn (US$11.2bn).

Indian Telecoms Minister Andimuthu Raja has said that revenue from the ongoing 3G auction process could glean over Rs500bn (US$11.2bn).

Raja said that the bids are increasing on a day-to-day basis.

In its federal budget the State of India said that it had hoped to obtain Rs250bn (US$5.6bn) from the auction.

The starting price for one pan-India slot of bandwidth was Rs35bn (US$786m).

NM Rothschild & Sons is aiding the government in the auction process.
