French telecoms and media group Vivendi remains interested in buying Vodafone’s 44% stake in SFR, CEO Jean-Bernard Levy was quoted saying.
Earlier this year, Vodafone was reported to be considering selling its minority stakes to continue to make acquisitions in emerging markets.
Vodafone’s stake could be worth about E6.8bn and Vivendi could use the US$5.8bn it raised from the sale of its stake in NBC Universal.
Vivendi, which holds 56% of SFR, has been recurrently saying over the last few years that it wanted to buy Vodafone’s stake.
It is also interested in buying Lagardere’s stake in Canal Plus.
