US-based ISP and telecoms group Windstream has named Kenny Gunderman as president and CEO of its planned real estate investment trust (REIT), Communications Sales & Leasing (CS&L), effective from 2 March.
Gunderman replaces Tony Thomas, who was appointed as president and CEO of Windstream last December.
Windstream director Francis Frantz, who will become CS&L’s chairman when the spinoff is complete, said: “Kenny’s extensive background in investment banking and his deep relationships throughout the telecom industry uniquely position him to drive growth at CS&L.”
Gunderman currently serves as executive vice president and co-head of investment banking for Stephens.
Prior to joining Stephens in 2006, he was a member of the telecom investment banking group at Lehman Brothers, and also worked at KPMG.
Arkansas-based Windstream announced plans to hive off a significant amount of its network assets into a publicly-traded REIT last July. The spinoff is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of the year. The resulting REIT will focus on expanding and diversifying its assets and tenants through future acquisitions.
