VimpelCom has chosen not to boost its stake in Euroset Holding , the Russian mobile phone retailer.
Amsterdam-listed VimpelCom had to make a decision on a call option to increase its 49.9% stake in Euroset to 74.85% by January next year.
Russian businessman Alexander Mamut, who owns the remaining stake in Euroset, granted VimpelCom the call option in 2008, when the latter acquired its stake in the company.
In a written statement, the international telecommunications operator emphasised that Euroset remains a “substantial” part of its distribution strategy in Russia.
It remains to be seen whether Euroset will go ahead with postponed plans to list on the London Stock Exchange.
