A US administrative law judge has advised against the proposed Verizon-Frontier Communications deal, valued at US$8.6bn.
Judge Lisa Tapia told regulators that she advised against the sale as evidence of the case does not support a deal, mainly due to the debt impact the deal would cause to Frontier, which would then have an impact on Frontier’s ability to manage lines and infrastructure.
In May 2009, Verizon agreed a deal to sell its operations across 14 US states to Frontier in a deal valued at US$8.6bn. The deal is still awaiting regulatory clearance.
