US telco Verizon Communications has appointed its president and CEO, Lowell McAdam, as its new chairman.
McAdam will take on the role after the present chairman, Ivan Seidenburg, retires at the end of the year. Seidenburg stepped down from the CEO role earlier in the year.
McAdam has been the company’s president and CEO since August.
Among his previous roles, he had been president and CEO of mobile operator Verizon Wireless, a JV between Verizon Communications and Vodafone.
Verizon Communications also announced that it had appointed Melanie Healey, group president for North America for Procter & Gamble, to its board.
