The Pan-European cable company UPC has merged its satellite TV businesses into one centralised unit, UPC DTH, based in Luxembourg.
This consolidates UPC Direct’s DTH activities in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia and the UPC FocusSat business in Romania.
UPC has undertaken the move to coincide with the migration of all its DTH businesses to Norwegian company Telenor’s Thor 5 and 6 satellites.
The new merged unit’s location will also complement UPC’s agreement with SES Astra Techcom for the use of its uplink facilities at the SES headquarters in Betzdorf, Luxembourg.
