Telenor’s Indian unit Uninor has appointed Suresh Bagrodia as its new CFO.
Bagrodia joins from Vodafone India, where he was the national business finance officer, the New Delhi-based telco said in a statement. He has more than 30 years’ experience in financial management and business strategy, with 18 years within the telecoms sector.
Uninor CEO Vivek Sood said he believes Bagrodia’s skills and experience will enable him to set up “a robust financial reporting process, policies and controls”.
“With his proven abilities in finance, I am confident he will be able to establish an efficient financial discipline and build the organisation … to realise our ‘internet for all’ ambition,” he said.
The company has also hired Quazi Mohammad Shahed as its chief human resource officer. Shahed held the same role at Grameenphone in Bangladesh, where he started in November 2012. He has held HR roles in areas including South Asia, the Middle East, Malaysia and the UK.
Norway’s Telenor owns 100% of Uninor, which operates in six telecoms service areas (or circles), which account for 50% of the national population. Telenor say the unit is the fourth-largest player in the six circles: UP (West), UP (East), Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
