South African fixed-line provider Telkom is close to agreeing a management partnership with Zimbabwe’s fixed-line telecom incumbent TelOne.
Quoted in local reports, Telkom’s head of management services Charlotte Mokoena said the group was “close to concluding an agreement” that would see it provide management services to help TelOne develop.
Rumours have circulated that Telkom was in talks about a possible stake acquisition in the operator, with Zimbabwe’s ICT minister Nelson Chamisa admitting that talks had held place.
However, Mokoena explained that a deal would only cover cooperation in management-related activities and would not involve any equity.
