Tonu Grunberg has replaced Osman Turan as CEO of TeliaSonera’s Uzbek subsidiary Ucell.
Grunberg is currently technical vice president of the Scandinavian telco’s Eurasian operations and will start in his role at Ucell on 15 September.
The new CEO joined TeliaSonera Eurasia three years ago from the group’s Estonian subsidiary, EMT, where he had worked since 1994.
TeliaSonera did not disclose Turan’s future plans.
Commenting on the management changes Erik Hallberg, EVP of TeliaSonera and head of its businesses in Eurasia, said: “[Osman] was very supportive to me during developments in the Uzbek mobile communication market. He also added a lot of value during his long years in Georgia and his short period in Nepal.
“I am happy to welcome Tonu Grunberg as the new CEO of Ucell, one of our biggest and fastest growing operations in Eurasia.”
