Slovenian incumbent Telekom Slovenije has agreed to acquire the country’s fourth-largest mobile services provider Debitel from shareholders ACH, Adria Mobil and Svema Trade.
The deal is subject to the approval of competition authorities and, until it closes, Telekom Slovenije said it will not reveal any further details, including the purchase price.
The Ljubljana-listed telco said the deal will strengthen synergies between the two operators, noting that its future strategy will involve cross-selling services as well as developing new services and subscription models.
Debitel, an MVNO which uses the incumbent’s network, has 90,000 customers, no debt and has had stable operations since its establishment in 1998, Telekom Slovenije said.
ACH, which has a 70% stake in Debitel, is undergoing a financial restructuring.
Telekom Slovenije is in the process of being privatised with Citigroup acting as the financial adviser to the government. Deutsche Telekom and London-based private equity firm Cinven are reportedly the sole two bidders remaining in the process.
Telekom Slovenije is the country’s largest mobile netowrk operator, followed by Telekom Austria’s Si.mobil, Tusmobil and T-2.
