State-owned telco Telebras is set to award four equipment supply contracts worth a total of R$710m (US$426m), according to media reports.
The Brazilian technology website Telesintese reported on 28 January that four Brazilian companies have been assigned as frontrunners for the contracts: Bimetal, Everest, Networker and Digitel.
According to the report, the companies came together to offer bids totalling R$1.2bn, but after government negotiations this subsequently came down to R$710m.
Telebras will reportedly only release the final results of the auction process on 10 February.
Telebras failed to reply to questions before the press deadline.
