The Brazilian government has appointed Caio Cezar Bonilha Rodrigues as the new president for the state-owned telco Telebras, which is overseeing the country’s national broadband plan.
Bonilha had been working as Commerical Director at Telebras since November 2010.
He will replace Rogerio Santanna dos Santos.
According to the Brazilian news website Teletime, Bonilha promised to work in partnership with the private sector and stimulating the market for multimedia communications providers to give internet access to cities with no broadband providers.
Telebras is in the process of implementing the PNBL, which aims to extend broadband internet access to 88% of Brazilians by 2014.
