UK ISP TalkTalk has recruited Stephen Makin as its new chief financial officer after veteran Amy Stirling decided to leave the post.
Makin will join the company on 15 April and Stirling will leave at the end of September as part of a transition phase. Makin will take over the position during this period, on 31 May.
This is Makin’s first role in the telecoms industry – his background lies in retail – but he has held a number of senior finance positions at companies such as Asda, Shop Direct, and Umbro, where he was CEO and CFO.
“With Steve we gain a great new colleague with huge consumer experience who will be a strong cultural fit for TalkTalk,” said CEO Dido Harding.
“I look forward to working with him as he supports me and the board in shaping our future growth.”
Outgoing CFO Stirling had been with Carphone Warehouse and TalkTalk for a combined 13 years, taking on the position she is stepping down from in 2006. She is yet to decide what she will do next.
TalkTalk primarily offers fixed-line voice and broadband services. It also has an MVNO and is a partner in troubled IPTV joint venture Youview. TalkTalk was created by Carphone Warehouse almost 10 years ago, demerging in 2010 to become an independent company trading on the London Stock Exchange.
