Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is partnering with Israeli satellite transmissions group RR Media to deploy a portfolio of mobile satellite services for maritime and land customers.
The deal gives Taiwan’s largest telco access to British MSS operator Inmarsat’s network, as well as value added management services from RR Media, previously known as RRsat.
Kobi Ohayon, managing director of RR Media’s Station711 MSS division, said: “The Far East is a key market for us and we hope to expand our presence in the region, implementing more services going forward.”
The NASDAQ-listed group owns six teleports in US, Europe and Israel, and also has more than 20 partner teleports.
Its Station711 division was established in 2000 and also sells products by US MSS operator Iridium.
