Russian telecoms holding Svyazinvest’s seven regional divisions have filed for liquidation ahead of their ‘mega merger’ with national operator subsidiary Rostelecom.
Shares in these state-owned regional operators ceased trading yesterday, according to a stock market filing. These shares will reportedly be converted into Rostelecom stock on 1 April.
Svyazinvest unveiled plans for the mega merger in February 2009, when it outlined intentions to reorganise its business before a full privatisation.
The holding group’s regional subsidiaries currently comprise Center Telecom, North-West Telecom (NWT), VolgaTelecom, Southern Telecommunications, Uralsvyazinform, Sibirtelecom and Far East Telecom (DalSvyaz).
Svyazinvest was unable to comment before the press deadline.
