Sunrise, the Swiss subsidiary of private-equity owned Danish incumbent TDC has appointed Oliver Steil as its new CEO, with immediate effect. Steil boasts a telecoms background, having been CEO at German mobile group debitel and a partner and sector expert at McKinsey & Company.
Henrik Poulson, the president, CEO and chairman of TDC, welcomed Steil, who he said would further strengthen the solid platform left by outgoing CEO Christoph Brand, who after almost four years as CEO will become CEO and co-owner of Swiss IT firm Adcubum.
Sunrise, Switzerland’s second largest telco, announced earlier this month that its planned merger with France Telecom owned Orange Switzerland had been called off, after failing to secure regulatory approval for the deal.
Sunrise has an annual revenue of DKK 9.9bn (E1.33bn). It closed Q110with 4.5% growth in revenue and EBITDA growth of 16.2% compared with the same period last year.
