Vodafone Qatar (QA:VFQS) has appointed Mohamed Al-Sadah as its new COO, three weeks after naming Vodafone Group veteran Ian Gray as its new CEO.
Al-Sadah joined Vodafone Qatar in 2012 as chief administration officer, and later became chief business development officer as well.
“I’d like to congratulate Mohamed on his new role as chief operating officer which will help accelerate the implementation of the company’s overall strategy,” Gray said.
“In his four years at Vodafone, Mohamed’s leadership has been critical to many of the Company’s achievements and there is no doubt Mohamed will play a key role in its future.”
Before joining Vodafone, Al Sadah held senior roles at Qatar Investment Authority and, prior to that, at Dolphin Energy.
Vodafone Qatar is 45% owned by the Vodafone and Qatar Foundation (which is 51% owned by Vodafone, and 49% owned by the Qatar Foundation) while the remaining 55% has been in free float on the local stock exchange since 2009.
The company competes with state-owned Ooredoo. MVNO Virgin, which had run on the incumbent’s network, was ordered to close in 2011.
