Burak Ersoy has been appointed CEO of Turkcell’s (BIST:TCELL) Ukrainian mobile subsidiary Life.
Turkcell took full ownership of the operator in June, after buying local investor SCM’s 44.96% stake for US$100m.
On 1 October, Ersoy will take over from Erdal Yayla, who has been acting CEO since January 2014 and will remain CFO.
A nine-year Turkcell veteran, Ersoy was most recently senior vice-president of retail and distribution at Turkcell Turkey. Prior to that, he served as chief consumer sales officer, small business director and consumer sales channels manager.
Turkcell CEO Kaan Terzioğlu said: “We have repeated time and again that Ukraine will be a pilot country for Turkcell as it expands its regional footprint and influence.
“The speed with which Life started serving its customers in 3G following the launch proves that this expectation is well founded.”
“Under Burak’s leadership, Life will step up its work of transforming the Ukrainian communication landscape with 3G+.”
The operator, which said it had 14 million customers as of 30 June, is Ukraine’s third-largest carrier behind Kyivstar and MTS Ukraine.
