Tele2 (STO:TEL2) has recruited Lars Nordmark to fill the CFO vacancy left by Allison Kirkby when she was promoted to CEO last August, and appointed new CEOs to lead its Swedish and Dutch subsidiaries.
Nordmark is set to take the reins on 18 April from James Maclaurin, the telecoms veteran who was brought in last September as interim while the search for a new permanent CFO was conducted.
Most recently CFO at security firm Securitas Direct, Nordmark gained telecoms experience at T-Mobile, Orange and most recently Q-tel.
Commenting on the appointment, Kirkby said: “Lars brings a wealth of telecoms and leadership experiences to Tele2 and has a strong value creation track record in his previous CFO roles.”
Elsewhere, Jeff Dodds will leave his role as CEO of Tele2 Netherlands to return to his family in the UK and take up a new role at TalkTalk (LON:TALK). Dodds joined the Dutch business two years ago from British cableco Virgin Media and has made great strides with Tele2 Netherlands, which culminated in the launch of a 4G network last November.
“Jeff has done a fantastic job over the last 2 years in setting up the Dutch operation for continued growth, by building out our network and re-launching the Tele2 brand to the Netherlands,” Kirkby said.
Dodds will be replaced by Malin Holmberg on 1 April. A Tele2 employee since 2009, Holmberg has been EVP and market area director for Central Europe and CEO of Tele2 Croatia.
Holmberg will continue to oversee the Croatian unit “at this point in time”, Tele2 said, where she has “played an important role in the launch of the new operating model and in preparing her region for commercialisation and monetisation of 4G” this year.
There has also been a change announced at the top of Tele2 Sweden. Thomas Ekman, head of the Tele2’s home market operations, is leaving the group after almost five years at Tele2 Sweden. He will be replaced on 18 April by Samuel Skott, who began as a trainee at Tele2 in 2005 and has most recently been director of customer and product design.
