Carlos Slim told press yesterday that he expects his Mexican telco Telefonos de Mexico, in which he is majority shareholder, to invest at least MXP10bn (US$789m) in 2010 in increasing its coverage and new technology services.
The Mexican businessman also took the opportunity to reject reports that Telmex will be merged with America Movil, which is currently bidding to acquire Carso Global Telecom and Telmex. Telmex would continue to trade independently and the two operate independently of each other.
