Former Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin has been tipped by India’s Business Line newspaper as a candidate to lead a turnaround at Indian state-owned telco BSNL.
The newspaper quoted a government source as saying that Sarin’s Indian background and proven success at the helm of a global company would him a strong contender.
The source added that no decision had been made, and that candidates had yet to voice their own conditions for taking up the role.
Current BSNL CEO Kuldeep Goyal is retiring in July, after which time an interim CEO is likely to head the company.
