UK supermarket chain J Sainsbury is reportedly talking to a number of local mobile operators about launching an MVNO.
Since rival retailers Asda and Tesco already have MVNO agreements with mobile operators Vodafone and O2, respectively, J Sainsbury is likely to team up with Everything Everywhere, reported trade publication Mobile Magazine citing sources.
Everything Everywhere is the UK JV between France Telecom-Orange and T-Mobile.
J Sainsbury and Everything Everywhere declined to comment on the speculation.
The report adds that the new offering is likely to follow Tesco’s model, with a wide range of handsets being offered on both monthly and pay-as-you-go contracts.
