Russian telecoms regulator Roskomnadzor has completed the sale process of 32 GSM licences, according to media reports.
Four separate tenders were held throughout April to sell the GSM 900 and 1800 licences, which are expected to be awarded on May 7.
The first tender took place on April 12 and Tele2 Russia, VimpelCom and Rostelecom were awarded licences in the Far Eastern Federal District.
The second and third tenders were both held on April 19. Eleven licences had been up for grabs. Yekaterinburg won licences in the Kurgan region as well as in the Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts. OSS Telekom won two licences in Krasnoyarsk and Perm. VimpelCom won a GSM-1800 licences in the Irkutsk region and GSM-900 licences in Irkutsk and the Jewish Autonomous District. In addition, MTS secured licences in Ulyanovsk and Penza, while Rostselecom received a licence in the Kamchatka region.
Finally, in the last tender, held on April 26, Tele2 Russia was awarded six new GSM licences. Rostelecom and VimpelCom are also reportedly believed to have secured licences.
