Just a week after French mobile operator SFR appointed a new CEO, rival Bouygues Telecom is also announcing changes to its executive committee.
Olivier Roussat, who has served as CEO of the carrier since 2007, has been promoted to chairman and CEO. This decision highlights “the shareholders’ confidence in the company’s management at a time when Bouygues is transforming itself to adapt to market mutations”, the carrier said in a statement.
Both SFR and Bouygues Tel have, over the last few months, sought to revive their operations as they continue to face increasing competition in their home market, mainly from Iliad’s Free Mobile.
Philippe Marien, who was named chairman in 2009, will continue in his role as CFO for the Bouygues Group.
Besides the promotion of Roussat, Bouygues Tel’s management has been reorganised around two main areas: one will be led by Richard Viel, appointed as director of commercial operations, while the other will be headed by Yves Legrand, named as director of technical operations.
