Private equity firm Seaport Capital is set to sell Guam’s sole quadruple play operator MCV Broadband to Japanese giant NTT Docomo for an undisclosed amount.
Seaport told TelecomFinance that it has entered into an agreement with NTT Docomo, but that a deal is still subject to various regulatory approvals.
The transaction will require local regulatory approval and, as the Micronesian state is a US territory, also needs clearance from the Federal Communications Commission.
Earlier this week news broke that MCV’s New York-based owners were negotiating with three potential buyers.
Seaport first acquired a 90% stake in MCV in 2005 from United Micronesia Development Association.
MCV offers cable television, broadband, mobile and fixed-line services in Guam and to the rest of the Mariana Islands.
