Japanese telco NEC announced yesterday that it would be running an LTE field trial in Buenos Aires before the end of the year along with Telefonica Moviles Argentina S.A.
This trial, which is scheduled to run from November to mid-December, will be the first in Central and South America to use the Advanced Wireless Service (AWS) band, which NEC says will use 1.7 GHz for uplink and 2.1 GHz for downlink.
Telefonica Moviles Argentina, which has Movistar as its mobile operator in Argentina, is controlled by the Spanish telco Telefonica.
