Cape Verde’s telecom regulator ANAC has granted a 10-year internet and cable TV licence to SGPM, reports the PANA news agency.
The report quotes a source at ANAC, which says SGPM – short for Sociedade de Gestão e Promoção de Meios – must start its services within 6 months.
If so, SGPM would compete with five existing ISPs including Cape Verde Telecom – which also offers cable TV – as well as CVWiFi, Cabocom, MB Investimentos and Telmax.
