Fayez Husseini has been appointed CEO of Palestinian mobile operator Wataniya Palestine Mobile, according to a company statement.
He replaces Bassam Hannoun who has left the operator to join parent company Wataniya Telecom, based in Kuwait, as its new CEO. Hannoun had led the successful IPO of Wataniya Palestine at the end of 2010.
Scott Gegenheimer, the previous head of Wataniya Telecom, resigned in June “to pursue other opportunities”, a release stated at the time. Abdulaziz Fakhroo, deputy CEO of the telco, was acting as CEO in the meantime.
Wataniya Telecom is majority-owned by Qatar Telecom (Qtel).
