US-based broadcast solutions firm NEP has acquired two more outside video specialists as the group continues its acquisition spree across Europe.
The company bought Belgium’s Outside Broadcast and its subsidiary RecordLab TV & Media of Germany for an undisclosed sum, further expanding its reach in the region.
Outside Broadcast had been majority owned by the private equity arm of BNP Paribas Fortis since a management buy-out deal by Timo Koch in 2006. The group later bought RecordLab, which has the same business but is focused on the German and Austrian market.
NEP CEO Kevin Rabbitt said: “I am excited for managing director Timo Koch and his entire team to join the NEP worldwide network.
“This deal will greatly expand NEP’s presence in Europe, including Germany – which we view as a very important market – and offer a great opportunity for us to work with Timo to continue to grow Outside Broadcast as part of NEP.”
The acquisition comes hot on the heels of NEP’s deal in late March for Swedish outdoor video and display specialist Mediatec, which was also majority owned by a private equity firm, Stena Adactum.
According to NEP, the three deals enable it to offer more than 110 HD outside broadcast units, satellite uplink trucks, and other equipment and post-production facilities around the world.
They are the latest in a string of acquisitions that the group has made since a majority stake in it was sold to PE firm Crestview Partners at the end of 2012. Other recent additions include Irish satellite uplink and live event specialist The Screen Scene Group, Dutch video display firm Faber Audiovisuals, and Australian video solutions provider Silk Studios.
