According to a regulatory filing, NBC Universal has secured a US$9.85bn financing package to fund its proposed US$30bn merger with fellow Comcast.
Cable operator Comcast and NBC Universal announced in late 2009 that they had reached an agreement for a joint venture, which would see Comcast taking a 51% stake in the JV and GE owned NBC Universal the remaining 49% stake. The deal is still awaiting regulatory clearance.
NBC’s US$9.85bn financing includes a three year credit line, which will provide the cable operator with a US$3bn term loan facility and a US$750m revolving credit facility, as well as a US$6.1bn bridge loan agreement.
