South Africa’s MTN has reportedly rejected claims that it is negotiating the acquisition of a stake in India’s Loop Telecom.
According to Dow Jones, a spokesperson for MTN said that the company was ‘denying emphatically that it is talking to Loop Telecom’.
MTN has frequently been linked to bids for assets on the Indian market and last month came close to acquiring African assets from Orascom, as it looks to bolster its presence in emerging markets.
India’s Business Standard had previously reported that MTN could be set to acquire a 45% stake in Loop.
