Movistar Colombia, the country’s second largest mobile operator, is preparing to issue Ps350bn (US$193m) in commercial paper.
Movistar is Telefónica of Spain’s operating unit in Colombia and commands nearly 25% of the mobile market.
The company is to release three series of bonds in local currency, destined for both the public and investors, including pension funds and severance pay, according to local newspaper La Republica.
The papers are to mature between two weeks and one year, Colombia’s financial watchdog Superfinanciera was quoted as saying.
Movistar Colombia was not available to expand on the terms of the bonds by the time of going to press.
