US vendor Motorola is set to build a 700 MHz LTE system in the San Francisco Bay Area for Public Safety Agencies, according to Celluar News.
It is alleged that the telecoms group has entered into an agreement with the agencies to install a broadband system this year to cover the greater bay area, as well as the cities of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. The system is expected to be up and running in early 2011.
Laura Phillips, general manager of the Bay Areas Urban Area Security Initiative, is quoted as saying the move represents the first stage of a unified and state-of the art voice and broadband multimedia network.
