US tech giant Microsoft and Spanish incumbent Telefonica have announced a new partnership on app development for computers, TVs and mobiles.
Telefonica’s app development platform BlueVia includes developer tools like the Microsoft .Net framework and Windows Azure, Microsoft’s open cloud platform.
With this partnership, developers will be able to host their apps on the cloud and integrate SMS, advertising and user contextual information, among other things.
In a statement yesterday, Microsoft said: “This collaboration project combines telco functionality from Telefonica with Microsoft’s experience in web development and the cloud, to help drive innovation in applications and services in a simple and frictionless way.”
